FAIRPORT, NY – The Rochester Jr. Americans are proud to announce the addition of Craig Doremus and the team’s Director of Player Personnel. Doremus joins the Jr. Amerks after spending eight years as the Head Coach and General Manager with the New Jersey Titans.

Doremus carries a decorated NAHL career, boasting a positive record and making the playoffs in all eight seasons as Titans head coach. With his leadership, Doremus led New Jersey to the 2022 Robertson Cup Championship, the only championship ever won by an East Division team. He was also awarded with the East Division General Manager of the Year after powering the Titans 38 wins in 52 games during the COVID-19 shortened season.

Prior to coaching New Jersey, Doremus was the bench boss for the Metro Fighting Moose in the CHA and MetJHL for five seasons. Over that time, he led the team to three trips to the USA Hockey Nationals and won three CHA titles. He was named Coach of the Year during his time with the Moose.

Doremus played hockey at Christ the King in Middle Village, NY. He gained valuable experience with the New York Rangers, where he began working in the marketing and youth hockey departments. Doremus is a proud graduate of St. John’s University, earning a degree in sports management.

“I am proud and excited to be part of the Jr. Amerks organization,” Doremus said. “It is a first-class operation from the ownership group to the players and staff members. They have welcomed me from day one and I couldn’t be more humbled to join the team.”

As Director of Player Personnel, Doremus will assist our current staff in building the most complete roster for the Jr. Americans by identifying talent across the nation and around the world. He will oversee parts of player evaluation, including scouting, managing the current personnel, identifying potential new signees, and sometimes contributing to player development plans. He will serve a critical role in preparing Jr. Amerks players for the next level whether that be NCAA or professional.

Doremus joins the team midway through the franchise’s second season, after winning Organization of the Year in their inaugural campaign. Currently they sit atop the East Division with a record of 20-7-6 and an impressive 7-1-2 in their last ten games.

“Rochester is a premier junior hockey destination.” Doremus said. “I am excited about our team and the future of our franchise. My goal is to pursue our first Robertson Cup and see our players advance to the next level of college hockey.”
