FAIRPORT, N.Y. — All good things come in t̶h̶r̶e̶e̶s̶ Swedes!
The Rochester Jr. Americans proudly welcome Hugo Branthsson as the third Swedish player of this year’s tender class. Branthsson is a 6’0″ 181 lbs forward who most recently played in the Timrå IK in the J20 Nationell. This is the same league as the previous Swedish players in this year’s tender class: Anton Jäderberg and Calle Karlsson.
Branthsson tallied 13 goals and 21 points in 42 games with Timrå IK. Although that is half a point per game, it was the first on the team. Born in 2005, Branthsson will have two years of eligibility in the NAHL. This is unlike his Swedish peers Jäderberg and Karlsson who only have one year.
Prior to playing J20 with Timrå IK, Branthsson played in the J18 Region and J18 National for Luleå HF. He was a point-per-game player, putting up an impressive 76 points in 76 games.
A tender is a contract, of sorts. A player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders – plus or minus any trades. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft.
The Jr. Amerks are pumped to have Hugo and would like to wish him congratulations!
