FAIRPORT, NY — The Rochester Jr. Americans are pleased to announce they have tendered forward Adam Gionta.
Gionta has most recently played with the Buffalo Jr. Sabres 18U AAA. In 63 games this past season, he tallied 26 goals and 51 assists for 77 points.
Gionta’s hometown is Clarence Center, NY. He is a 2005 birth year giving him multiple seasons of NAHL eligibility if necessary.
Brian Gionta, Adam’s father, will be the team’s associate head coach. He is retired professional ice hockey player and Stanley Cup Champion. Brian was born in Rochester, NY.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders – plus or minus any trades – which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft.
The Jr. Amerks are excited to tender Adam and wish him congratulations!
